GENERAL SPECIFICATION

Galvanizing of reinforcing steel should be specified to comply with Indian Standard IS: 12594-1988 “Hot dip zinc coating on structural steel bars for concrete reinforcement-Specification”.

Example of template for inclusion in tender:

Hot Dip Galvanizing of reinforcement bars including preparation of steel metal surface for galvanizing, chromating, testing complete as per IS 12594:1988. The mass of zinc coating shall not be less than 610 gsm of surface (Approximately 80-90 microns).
